Eurídice Castañeda Gutiérrez

I am the Senior Manager of Translational Science at Aurelia. I have an MSc and PhD degree from Cornell University (USA) in 2007, where I specialised in Nutrition and Physiology. I have also worked as R&D Senior specialist at Nestlé .I have 18 years of experience in Innovation and R&D for the food industry. During my career I have participated in the conception, development, and scientific communication of breakthrough products, including complete nutrition and oral supplements that deliver health benefits for the whole family. I have been part of industry expert groups and co-authored more than 20 scientific publications and patents.

My motivation

What motivates me every day is working with science-based formulations that will deliver efficacy to the consumer. I love to be able to incorporate innovation and the latest scientific advances in our products.

A day in the life

My day-to-day work varies a lot, but every day is exciting! I spend some days reviewing scientific literature and analysing evidence to choose the best ingredients. Other days are spent working with the Research and Product Development teams to design studies and formulations, or with my colleagues from marketing to build the scientific content for communications. I am fortunate to work in multidisciplinary teams for an innovative-minded company.

The power of teamwork and trust. Bringing a successful product to launch requires the expertise and commitment of a team.

What could the future hold?

I think products that deliver beauty from within will become an integral part of beauty routines. As the science of cellular ageing advances, it will lead to powerful solutions that address skin ageing at its root.

My skincare regime?

I clean and moisturise my skin every night before going to sleep. I also take collagen shots regularly to preserve skin plumpness and elasticity.

When I was a child, I loved to play ‘chemistry’. I collected flowers from the garden and mixed them with alcohol or baby oil to create ‘perfumes’ and ‘moisturisers’ for my mum. Needless to say, they were a disaster and went directly to the bin. Luckily, I never tried eating my own creations as supplements.
